Training with Lynda.com
One of the downsides of working for a print slanted company is the lack of in-house training available for us few web workers. While the CSS workshop back in January helped open new doors for us, it was only a drop in the bucket as far as what we need to learn. Where to find JavaScript training? Why is it so expensive to learn PHP and AJAX? I have scoured the web and found very few Flash and ActionScript tutorials that cater to an intermediate-level developer.
Enter Lynda.com and a premium pass. A ticket to really delivering the technology we want to give our customers, I had forgotten about this little gem. When I worked an internship for NWMSU’s library my supervisor supplied me with some beginner ActionScript DVD ROMs to aid in the project I was building. Don’t let the slogan fool you. Training programs for schools and students just means marketing department thinks so. It works just fine for professionals too.
So now that we have an all-you-can-eat training buffet, where do I start? Picking one thing and focusing on it start to finish is going to be tough! Let’s see if we can rock the online Angus world with a little PHP and mySQL.
