Training with Lynda.com

One of the downsides of working for a print slanted company is the lack of in-house training available for us few web workers. While the CSS workshop back in January helped open new doors for us, it was only a drop in the bucket as far as what we need to learn. Where to find JavaScript training? Why is it so expensive to learn PHP and AJAX? I have scoured the web and found very few Flash and ActionScript tutorials that cater to an intermediate-level developer.

Enter Lynda.com and a premium pass. A ticket to really delivering the technology we want to give our customers, I had forgotten about this little gem. When I worked an internship for NWMSU’s library my supervisor supplied me with some beginner ActionScript DVD ROMs to aid in the project I was building. Don’t let the slogan fool you. Training programs for schools and students just means marketing department thinks so. It works just fine for professionals too. :)

So now that we have an all-you-can-eat training buffet, where do I start? Picking one thing and focusing on it start to finish is going to be tough! Let’s see if we can rock the online Angus world with a little PHP and mySQL.
